Cities Invited To Apply for Connected and Automated Vehicle Pilot Program
The program, led by MnDOT, partners with communities to explore connected and automated vehicle technology based on local needs.
Applications are now open for cities interested in exploring connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technology within their communities through the Community-Driven CAV program.
The program is a planning and engagement process that helps community leaders and local agencies to explore CAV technology proactively, rather than tested on communities without local input.
The Community-Driven CAV program will be administered through the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). Up to five communities across the state will receive consultant support to complete a seven-step Community-Driven Planning Framework (pdf). Because each community is unique, the steps can be tailored as needed. The process is expected to take two to four months.
To apply
For more information and to apply, visit the Community-Driven CAV program website. Applications are open until May 22.
Eligible communities include cities, counties, tribal nations, regional development organizations, metropolitan planning organizations, nonprofit organizations, and community groups. MnDOT will provide funding and facilitation support, but the process is intended to be community-led.
The engagement process will include an advisory committee, listening sessions, workshops, and other activities. No local funding is required.
