Mayor Courtney Johnson of Carver Selected as New League President
At its Annual Conference for member cities in Rochester, the League of Minnesota Cities selected Mayor Courtney Johnson from Carver to serve as the association’s president. Johnson’s term is for one year.
The League’s Board of Directors is a volunteer body consisting of elected and appointed city officials from throughout the state. The board provides stewardship, strategic guidance, and vision to the organization, and acts in the interest of Minnesota cities and the people they serve.
Johnson has resided in Carver since 2010 and was first elected as mayor in 2018. Prior to that, she served on the City’s Parks and Recreation Board and the City’s Planning Commission. She was elected and served on the Carver City Council from 2017 to 2018, and as the League’s First Vice President from 2025 to 2026.
Known for her focus on civility and non-partisan governance, Johnson has successfully led Carver through transformative growth by centering on transparency and community engagement.
Professionally, Johnson works in the nonprofit healthcare industry, specializing in communications and corporate social responsibility.
The League of Minnesota Cities is a membership association dedicated to promoting excellence in local government and serves its more than 830 member cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services.
