Minnesota’s Minimum Wage To Increase in 2026
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the adjustment will apply to all employees and employers in the state.
The Minnesota Legislature last increased the state’s minimum wage in 2014. That law also authorized the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) to adjust the rate annually for inflation.
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, minimum wage will increase from $11.13 to $11.41 an hour — a 28-cent (2.5%) increase based on the annual rate of inflation.
The new rate applies to all employees and employers statewide. However, charter cities may set their own minimum wage ordinances at a higher rate.
State law also requires that employers display a DLI-issued poster showing the current minimum wage in a location visible to all employees. DLI has announced that the updated poster will be available for download in fall 2025.
Cities with questions about the state’s minimum wage requirements can contact League staff at [email protected].
