All Minnesota mayors are invited to join Minnesota Mayors Association (MMA) for the 2023 fall Mayors Meetups!

Only mayors know just what the work of a mayor entails. These meetups will provide opportunities for mayors to come together and connect on topics that are timely and relevant to the role of mayor.

During these meetups, mayors will:

  • Connect with other mayors.
  • Learn about interesting projects and programs cities are implementing.
  • Hear about upcoming legislative priorities and other topics from the League.

Who should attend?

Mayors (MMA members and non-members)

Fee

Member: $25 per meetup

Non-member: $35 per meetup

Mayors may attend as many meetups as they would like.

Dates & Locations

Aug. 30 — Faribault

1 – 2 p.m. Tour of Trystar

Attendees will meet at Trystar (15765 Acorn Trail) to tour the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Faribault and learn how power distribution equipment, cable, and generator docking stations are created! 

2:15 – 2:45 p.m. Welcome from Host City

After the tour, Faribault Mayor and MMA President Kevin Voracek will share welcoming remarks at Corks & Pints (22 4th St NE).

2:45 – 3 p.m. Legislative Preview

LMC IGR Staff will provide a preview of the legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

3 – 4 p.m. Talking Amongst Mayors

LMC Executive Director Luke Fischer will kick off some facilitated conversations amongst attendees on topical areas impacting mayors today!

Sept. 13 — Perham

LUXE Events (114 1st Ave S, Perham, MN 56573; parking available in nearby public lots)

12 – 12:30 p.m. Welcome from Host City

Hear from Perham Mayor Tim Meehl on the many industries in Perham, including the newly announced $125 million expansion for Bongards Creameries and their soon-to-be-completed mixed-use building downtown.

12:30 – 12:50 p.m. Legislative Preview

LMC IGR Staff will provide a preview of the legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

1 – 2 p.m. Talking Amongst Mayors

LMC Executive Director Luke Fischer will kick off some facilitated conversations amongst attendees on topical areas impacting mayors today!

2 – 3 p.m. Tour of Local Non-Profits

Take a tour of a few local non-profits in Perham! Hear how the city completed an $8 million renovation of their old high school to retrofit space for two local non-profits. Then we’ll head across the street to take a peek at the $9 million renovation just wrapping up at the Perham Area Community Center (PACC). These projects were funded by state bonding dollars, local option sales tax revenues, and sizable donations from the public.

Sept. 14 — St. Joseph

Mayor Rick Schultz will take the group on a short walking tour around downtown St. Joseph and will share stories of revitalization over the years, as well as what is to come in the years ahead.

Hear from New Hope Mayor Kathi Hemken and city staff on the city’s Scattered Site Housing Program to improve residential neighborhoods!

1:30 – 1:50 p.m. Legislative Preview

LMC IGR Staff will provide a preview of the legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

2 – 3 p.m. Talking Amongst Mayors

LMC Executive Director Luke Fischer will kick off some facilitated conversations amongst attendees on topical areas impacting mayors today!

3 – 4 p.m. Tour of New Hope Aquatic Park and Police Station

Mayor Kathi Hemken will take the group on a tour of the popular New Hope Aquatic Park and recently renovated Police Station.

Oct. 5 — Marshall

Hear from Wyoming Mayor Lisa Iverson about the city’s Veterans Memorial and how it’s possible to raise funds without an American Legion group.
