Ready to expand your economic development toolbox?
Join peers from across Minnesota for Leading for Economic Transformation. This six-session virtual course helps local leaders build adaptive leadership skills, navigate economic transitions, and develop a systems thinking mindset to move community economic challenges forward.
Cohort participants will:
- Enhance skills to navigate economic transitions and community change.
- Develop a network of peers for support and knowledge exchange.
- Strengthen confidence and ability to address complex community issues.
- Cultivate adaptive leadership skills for a more responsive, collaborative approach.

Who should participate
Designed for city and county administrators, clerks, economic development staff, and local leaders from communities of all sizes facing complex economic development challenges.
What to expect
Participants will be expected to spend 30 minutes of preparation (watching course videos and/or reading articles) every week prior to the sessions. Everyone will experience course instructors, peer learning in small groups, case scenarios, and have access to a course site with additional resources to deepen their learning.
Each session will build upon the previous week’s curriculum, so it’s important to attend all sessions.

All sessions will be held online via Zoom on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. CST and will focus on:

Session 3 (Feb. 3): Navigating Complexity
Session 4 (Feb. 10): Systems Thinking for Community Change
Session 5 (Feb. 17): Leading Through Complexity
Session 6 (Feb. 24): Activating Leadership for Transformation
