If I were mayor for a day, what would I do to make one of the services that my city provides even better? What would I do? That’s a good question. No city is perfect; all cities need improvement. Sometimes it just needs to be seen from a different perspective to fix it. If I were mayor for a day, I could say my opinion, that is why this essay is good for cities.
In my opinion, safety comes first so that the citizens feel safe and comfortable. All mayors should consider safety first. I would consider improving our first responders. If there is a car crash just a couple of miles out of town and it’s really bad, we can’t transport and take them to the hospital where they can get the care they need. We have to wait until another ambulance crew gets there. We need to be able to do transports so that the patient can get to the hospital faster. If we transport patients, we have to become our own ambulance crew. In my opinion, I want my town to have its own ambulance and do transports.
I would like to consider some factors that impact this proposal. It would be expensive. You would need more employees and more equipment. This could involve higher tax rates, but in all it would improve the citizens’ safety. The city would have to charge those who use the ambulance services. The city could do some fundraisers to help pay for the equipment. In conclusion, I think that our city should have an official ambulance crew.

Welcome, my name is Jah’Zarah Jackson. I would be excited and honored to act as your mayor for a day. Yes, I am only a 4th grader, but I have some amazing ideas to better our community. I plan to make our town an even better place to live, let’s get started.
Living in this town, I have noticed homelessness is a problem. That can affect many people in our community. As Mayor, everyone deserves a safe place to live and to have good meals every day.
First, I would work with local stores and restaurants to collect extra food that they don’t use. Instead of throwing it away, we can give it to families who are in need.
Secondly, I would build a small, safe house with a community kitchen for our homeless people. We as a team can help paint, build, and decorate the homes to make them feel welcomed. I would make sure these homes are near schools, parks and buses so families can get to the place they need to go.
Another Idea is to hold donation drives every month we can donate clothes, shoes, books and toys for kids and adults. I believe that if everyone works together, we can make our town safe, friendly, and kind to our people. Even though I would only be mayor for 1 day. I would want that day to make a big difference. I hope my ideas inspire others to help improve our community. Thank you.

If I were mayor for a day…
I would improve my city’s housing. I would improve my city’s housing by helping the city to decide where to put the houses. I think that we should put houses in places that we don’t use often so that we can make sure that families who don’t have shelter are able to get a house.
I would also work on how much money we should sell the houses and keep the prices lower because families and individual people will not be able to afford a place to find shelter if we are increasing the prices on tiny houses and apartments that only have one teensy tiny bedroom.
I will also help with the safety of the houses because what we don’t want is for people to move into a cheaper apartment/house and discover that it’s unsafe for them and their families because we didn’t want to spend a lot of time on the place.
We want all families to want to come back to Duluth,MN, we also want people to be able to have an awesome life and not be living in the streets and turn to drugs and alcohol because then they aren’t living their best life and all that’s happening because we either didn’t build their house right or because they couldn’t afford our increased prices on houses.
We need people to feel safe or else no one feels safe in our city and we definitely do not want that to happen. So if I was the mayor for a day I would pick to help with the housing so that everyone feels safe in our city. Thank you for reading.

Fun For All
Can you imagine going to a park but not being able to play? Can you imagine going to a family member’s sports game but not being able to get to the sidelines, or going to the beach but not being able to get to the water? These things happen every day for people in our community with mobility issues. If I were mayor for a day, I would make Lakeville parks, sports fields, and beaches more accessible for people who need medical devices to move.
First, playgrounds were meant to play, but not all kids can play on them. Those kids can get left out because they can’t get on the playground. Kids would be healthier if they played rather than sit and watch. The most common reasons playgrounds are inaccessible to children with mobility issues is because of stairs or the material the ground is made of. If I were mayor, I would add ramps, use foam ground instead of wood chips, and add merry-go-rounds that you can roll onto in a wheelchair or with a walker.
Secondly, beaches are supposed to be fun, but some people can’t travel on the sand. Everyone should get to sit or play in the sand without having to think about how to get to the sand. If I were mayor I would add cement or rubber pads and ramps down into the sand.
Lastly, children play sports, and parents, siblings, and grandparents should be able to watch from the sidelines. Unfortunately not everyone can. That makes the family members that can’t come, or have to watch from the car, frustrated or sad because they can’t get to the sidelines to watch their loved ones play. That makes the children who play the sports sad because they know some of their family members can’t come. If I were mayor, I would add a path around sports fields so everyone can watch from up close. These changes would help people focus on what they can do instead of what they can’t. When all children can play at parks, all family members can go to the beach, and all family members can watch their loved ones play sports, people would be happier. In addition, the city of Lakeville would be more appealing to those with mobility issues. They would be more likely to visit Lakeville, and spend money at our restaurants and other entertainment places.
