Learn Your Role in Responding to Data Requests
Don’t let data requests drag you down! Understand the city’s responsibilities under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) for data the city creates and maintains, and how to balance the public’s right to public data, the right to privacy, and the city’s need to function responsibly and efficiently. The Minnesota Department of Administration’s Data Practices Office will explore the main topic areas of interest to cities, including personnel data, council access to not-public data, security camera data, responding to burdensome requests, and navigating charging costs for requests. We’ll also share any legislative updates cities should be aware of. Join us to learn more about the operational actions you can take when receiving a data request in your city.
