This interactive training is designed to build practical, hands‑on skills for anyone serving on a safety committee or responsible for workplace safety. Participants will rotate through three applied learning sessions—accident investigation, job hazard analysis (JHA), and mock OSHA Inspections—gaining real‑world experience they can bring directly back to their worksites.
In the accident investigation session, participants will walk step‑by‑step through the investigation process, discussing background details, identifying root causes, and developing meaningful corrective actions.
During the JHA session, attendees will observe a job task being performed and work in teams to break the task into steps, identify hazards, and draft a JHA. This session expands on foundational JHA principles and provides ample time to practice the full process.
Finally, in the mock OSHA Inspection session, participants will take part in a mock inspection within a working public works facility. They will learn how to spot commonly cited issues, recognize well‑maintained areas, and practice strategies for navigating OSHA interviews.
During this day-long workshop, you will:
- Learn the fundamental tasks of a safety committee and practice them in a hands-on manner.
- Observe a job task being performed and practice creating a JHA.
- Participate in a mock OSHA inspection in a working public works facility, learning commonly cited areas and how to remedy violations.
- Participate in an accident investigation to learn the fundamentals of root cause analysis and practice crafting safety recommendations to prevent future accidents.
