MnDOT to Host Automated Vehicle Demonstration

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is hosting a demonstration of an automated vehicle on Nov. 13 at the agency’s Arden Hills Training Center. This demonstration shows some of the safety benefits that are used in already commercially available vehicles and includes a safety driver.

At the event, VSI Labs will demonstrate a Level 2 automated Ford Fusion research car. Level 2 automated vehicles have a steering wheel, so they require a human driver. These cars use “automated driving assist” technologies.

According to MnDOT, at this demonstration, you will experience technology that will improve:

  • Safety
  • Equity and mobility
  • Jobs and the economy
  • Traffic efficiency
  • Public health and environment

To sign up for a 30-minute experience between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., contact Keith Mensah at keith.mensah@state.mn.us or (612) 499-6277.
