Make sure your city is in compliance with the many new laws that took effect Aug. 1.
(Published Aug 5, 2019)
Aug. 1 is a common effective date for new state laws. While the laws are too numerous to mention here, city officials can review the League's 2019 Law Summaries to ensure they are in compliance with new regulations and requirements.
You can also read past Focus on New Laws articles for more detail on new laws that are likely to affect city operations.
If you have any questions about how to comply with any state regulation—new or old—contact the League's Research & Information Service and your city attorney.
For more information about how a law came to be or other city policy issues at the Capitol, please contact a member of the League's Intergovernmental Relations staff.
