Second Round of American Rescue Plan Act Funding to Be Distributed June 28

June 27, 2022

A total of $142.9 million will be distributed by Minnesota Management and Budget to 744 cities.

The second half of funds from the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) will be distributed by Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) on June 28 to 2,107 non-entitlement units of government. For this distribution, 744 cities will receive a total of $142.9 million, while 1,363 townships will receive a total of $45.3 million.

Entitlement cities (generally those with populations over 50,000) have already begun receiving their second distribution of funds, which will be sent directly from the U.S. Treasury. Those 21 cities will receive a total of $322.1 million in funding in their second distribution.

A total of 88 cities and 448 townships opted not to receive funding under the program. The funds that would have been distributed to those cities and townships were redistributed and sent in a second payment to all other participating non-entitlement cities and townships last year. The payments scheduled for June 28 will equal the total each city received in 2021.
