Local Government Officials Asked To Help Shape Recovery Residence Policies
The Minnesota Department of Human Services is forming a work group to make policy recommendations on recovery residences. The agency is seeking local government input on planning and zoning.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Behavioral Health Administration is forming a Recovery Residence Work Group to develop policy recommendations on recovery residences.
The Minnesota Legislature directed DHS to collaborate with interested parties across the state, including local governments, to produce a report examining how other states fund recovery residences and to create an actionable plan to address the housing needs of individuals in substance use disorder treatment.
The work group will meet regularly throughout 2026 to support research, engage with affected communities, and contribute to the development of a final report.
Because zoning is a key consideration for recovery residences, DHS is seeking local government officials who can provide planning and zoning expertise to join the group.
Submit your interest in participating by Oct. 31
