Survey responses will be used to help determine local government interest in and usage of local housing trust funds.
Cities are invited to complete a survey gathering data on Minnesota city and county interest in and usage of local housing trust funds. The deadline to take the survey is Jan. 24.
New state funding program
A housing trust fund is a fund established by local government dedicating local public revenue for housing.
During the 2021 legislative session, the League, Minnesota Housing Partnership (MHP), Association of Minnesota Counties, and Metro Cities successfully advocated for $1 million in state funds to match locally raised dollars used to capitalize local housing trust funds.
The state has not yet announced an application process for funds, but details can be found in the legislation.
How survey will be used
Responses to the survey will be reflected in a summary report used to inspire peer-to-peer learning, and inform lawmakers, program administrators, and housing providers.
