This week’s program will be a mix of an on-demand MemberLearn session and an in-person Zoom session. Please take the on-demand MemberLearn session prior to joining the live Zoom session.

Please note: You will be able to choose from two different times for the live Zoom session, and your selection must be made in MemberLearn between January 14 – 22. You will be able to log on to your MemberLearn account using your MyLMC account starting on January 14.

On-Demand MemberLearn Session:
Open Meeting Law

Core competencies: integrity & ethics, communication, policymaking, meeting facilitation
(Seat time: approximately 30 minutes)

Get an introduction to, and gain an appreciation for, the Open Meeting Law! You’ll start to understand the requirements that the law sets forth and get tips on how to work together as a council in making decisions and setting policy. Please note: this MemberLearn session can be completed at any time, but it is best to complete it before this week’s Zoom session.

Jan. 28 — 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Jan. 29 — 9-10:15 a.m.

Pamela Whitmore, collaboration and mediation manager for the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust, will take you through common Open Meeting Law scenarios. You’ll spend part of the session in an online breakout room with other participants and a League subject matter expert where you’ll get a chance to share questions, hear from others, and meet League staff. Please note: this session builds on information learned during this week’s MemberLearn session. It is recommended that you complete the session in MemberLearn ahead of this session.
