This week’s program will be a mix of on-demand MemberLearn sessions and an in-person Zoom session. Please take the on-demand MemberLearn sessions prior to joining the live Zoom session.

Please note: You will be able to choose from two different times for the live Zoom session, and your selection must be made in MemberLearn between January 14 – 22. You will be able to log on to your MemberLearn account  using your MyLMC account starting on January 14.

On-Demand MemberLearn Session:
Public Finance 101 & 201

Core competency: financial literacy
(Seat time: approximately 30 minutes)

This combination 101 and 201 course will provide the introduction you need to understand city budgeting. In the 101 level course (10 min seat time), you will learn core concepts of public finance and budgeting basics. In the 201 level course (20 min seat time), you will dive a little deeper to understand fund accounting, operating budgets, revenue and expenditures, and tax levies, ensuring you are equipped to communicate with confidence about your city budget. Please note: this MemberLearn session can be completed at any time, but it is best to complete it before this week’s Zoom session.

Register in MemberLearn for the time that works for you:
Feb. 3 — 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Feb. 4 — 4 p.m.-5:15 p.m.

Hear from Lisa Sova, the League’s assistant finance director, as you have the chance to put theory into practice through discussion and examining common financial situations. You’ll spend part of the session in an online breakout room with other participants and a subject matter expert where you’ll get a chance to share questions, hear from others, and meet League staff. Please note: this session builds on information learned during this week’s MemberLearn session. It is recommended that you complete the session in MemberLearn ahead of this session.
