COVID-19 has created many challenges for community and economic development in cities, but the pandemic has also revealed new opportunities.

You can be part of a cohort of city officials starting this April to learn how to lead economic transformation in your community. Over the course of six weeks, educators from the University of Minnesota Extension’s Center for Community Vitality will take an applied learning approach to address business retention, economic recovery, and transformation.

Take part in this cohort to:

  • Learn about business retention, recovery, and transformation for local economies.
  • Build a network of peers navigating change during uncertain times.
  • Strengthen confidence and ability to address unknown or uncomfortable issues emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Consider racial and socio-economic equity in economic transformation.

Topics covered will include:

  • Emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Innovation

  • Asking effective questions for business retention and recovery
