Police Track Agenda

Agenda will be the same at each location.

8:30-9:30 a.m.
PTSD & Public Safety: Primer, Practice, Tips and Pitfalls

The last few years have seen a rise in the number of police officers and other public safety employees leaving the profession, many of them because of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or other mental health conditions.  What happens when an officer has PTSD or another condition?  How can departments accommodate and support officers?  What happens when an officer files for work comp or PERA benefits?  This session will provide an overview of pending legislation, work comp, PERA, and employment and labor issues.

9:45-10:45 a.m.
Courageous Conversations: The Skill Set of a Modern Leader

A courageous conversation is when a manager bravely and timely embraces a difficult conversation with an employee.  For these important conversations to work, you need more than courage; you need skills and an effective process. Join us to learn guiding principles to navigate difficult conversations in the workplace.

10:45-11:30 a.m.
Developing a Resilient Mindset

For public safety personnel, resiliency is crucial. We’ll break down the components of emotional resiliency and suggest habits for maintaining a resilient mindset.
