Are there any COVID requirements to attend in-person events?

The League of Minnesota Cities is closely following and monitoring guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). The League is committed to meeting all safety requirements prescribed by national and state health experts and will recommend participants follow guidance. Beyond regulatory requirements, there may be instances in which an event needs to conform to venue-specific requirements. For instance:

  • If the CDC issues a masking requirement, attendees will be required to wear masks. If the CDC issues a masking recommendation, attendees will be encouraged to use their best discretion.
  • If MDH makes social distancing a requirement, attendees will be required to distance. If MDH makes social distancing a recommendation, attendees will be encouraged to space to their comfort level.
  • If a venue requires proof of vaccination for attendance, attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination. (Venue-specific requirements will be communicated to participants at least 24 hours in advance of an event).

Will the League have safety measures in place?

The League of Minnesota Cities will meet all event-related requirements of the CDC and MDH, as well as any local mandates, if applicable. Additionally, the League will have hand sanitizer available on site and will ensure facilities have properly stocked restrooms for handwashing.

What if conditions change — could the event be canceled?

The League’s top priority is the health and safety of our members. If it is determined that it is not safe to participate in an event, it will be canceled. To the extent possible, the League will make this decision based solely on current or anticipated federal, state, or local conditions and restrictions. Any cancellation decision will be communicated at least 24 hours prior to the event.

Will there be a hybrid option?

The upcoming events that are planned to be in-person or feature a blended-learning program rely heavily on group discussion and interaction between participants. With this meeting structure, there isn’t a good option for virtual participation for the in-person elements and one will not be offered.

How will I know about changes to event status?

Once you’re registered for an event, just keep an eye on your email. We’ll send any change in status to you as soon as we can.
