Bills in both the House and Senate provide bond proceeds and cash for transportation projects, including local bridge and local road improvements.

The House and Senate are both moving on bills that provide bond proceeds and cash for transportation.
On May 6, the House passed both a bonding bill (HF 2490) and a bill with general fund cash (HF 1068) out of the Ways and Means Committee and on to the full House. The Senate Finance Committee passed both a bonding bill (SF 2605) and bill with general fund cash (SF 882) on May 7, and the bills now await action on the Senate floor.
For local bridges, the House has a total of $21.75 million with $11.75 million earmarked for the Franklin Avenue Bridge. This leaves $10 million for bridges on the waiting list. The current waiting list totals almost $60 million. The Senate has a total of $40 million for local bridges, with $11.75 million set aside for the Franklin Avenue Bridge leaving $28.25 million for bridges on the waiting list.
For the Local Road Improvement Program, the House has a total of $51.5 million in cash. Of that amount, approximately $46.75 million is earmarked (including $15 million for pothole repair), leaving almost $5 million for solicitation. The Senate has a total of $40 million in cash and bonds with no earmarks.
Both the House and Senate bills include approximately $14 million for transit capital in the metropolitan area, and about $1 million for transit in Greater Minnesota.
