The comment line is designed to gather citizen ideas for redesign of government, including local government service delivery.

Rep. Paul Marquart (DFL-Dilworth), chair of the House Property and Local Sales Tax Division, and other legislators held a press conference on Feb. 8 to launch a new effort designed to gather citizen input on government redesign.
Input to be used for new legislation
Citizens will be asked to submit ideas about how the government can improve efficiency and lower costs. The six strongest and most promising ideas will be rolled into legislation that will be called the Citizen Redesign Bill.
Ideas can be submitted through a comment line at (651) 297-8391 or (800) 551-5520, and through the House of Representatives website.
Redesign Caucus
The Redesign Caucus is set to meet Tuesdays throughout the legislative session with the goal of "promoting and developing public sector redesign strategies and proposals within the Legislature." The first meeting is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 16.
This issue is related to much of Marquart’s work from last session on mandate relief and efforts to bring more accountability to local governments. In 2007, he used the same hotline/website effort to put together a Citizen Property Tax Reform proposal, which included a number of ideas about how to devise the property tax system in Minnesota.
