Minnesotans over the age of 65 are a rapidly growing population group. The number of individuals who fall into this demographic will double over the next 25 years, having dramatic effects on city services and communities overall.
Senior populations will grow in all regions of the state, with the highest growth projected in the central lakes region and the metro corridor between St. Cloud and Rochester.
Service needs will evolve as the bulk of seniors within the Baby Boom generation age, increasingly counting on cities, counties and nonprofits to provide transportation, crime prevention, emergency response services, and general support.
