OSHA/Safety Assistance

The OSHA/Safety Assistance program helps Minnesota cities protect employees and achieve OSHA compliance by developing safety coordinators and safety programs.

Program Provides Subsidized Services

In addition, the program helps provide safety audits, and participants also have access to free, web-based safety training courses. LMCIT partners with the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) to deliver these services.

OSHA/Safety Assistance training sessions are conducted throughout the year. Participants learn safety management principles and general safety program implementation, and get maintenance information. Small group discussion allows participants to discuss their city's safety issues.

Session are a blend of classroom and hands-on learning, and each safety coordinator can take information back to their city to develop a comprehensive safety program.

Custom On-Site/On-Demand Training

LMCIT partners with the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) to provide custom safety training to OSHA/Safety Assistance participants. The cost for on-site training is shared equally by LMCIT and attending cities. To qualify for a subsidized fee, a city must have a minimum of eight employees attend the training, or employees from a minimum of three different cities must attend. LMCIT invoices cities for their share of the cost.
